In this study, the purpose is to determine metaphorical thoughts of pre-service early childhood education teachers about the early childhood education. Participants completed the sentence “Early childhood education is like…, because….” by writing what early childhood education means for them and why. 40 pre-service early childhood education teachers participated to this study in department of early childhood education teacher education in Aksaray University in 2013-2014 education year. the data was analyzed by content analysis method, According to participants’ responses to this prompt 24 metaphors and 3 categories appeared about the concept of early childhood education. These categories are; shaping the future, a need and a new environment for child. Results of the study shows that preservice early childhood education teachers have a positive point of view about early childhood education and know its importance for child. Also, they didn’t produce any negative metaphor about this discipline.
