This study has been conducted in order to determine the relationship between the gender roles attitudes and assertiveness levels of the university students and some demographic characteristics. The research group was composed of totally 315 students, 207 of them female and 108 of them male students, studying at GiresunUniversity. Gender Roles Attitude Scale, Rathus Assertiveness Schedule and Socio-demographic Information Form, prepared by the researches, have been used as data collection tools in the research. T-test, Anova, chi-square, correlation and point correlation was used as statistical analysis and the significance level was accepted as 0.05. It was specified that the female students, participating in the research are more egalitarian than the male students in terms of their gender roles’ total scores. Any relationship was not found between the gender roles’ total attitudes of the students and their assertiveness levels. A relationship was found between some sub-dimensions of gender roles of the students and their assertiveness levels. It was found that there are relationships between some demographic characteristics of the students and gender roles attitudes and assertiveness levels. The findings were interpreted within the framework of the literature.
