Looking at the researches done about music teacher training institutions, it is understood that the piano education being implemented in these institutions is not efficient enough. The mostly used beginner piano method books in these institutions either are not suitable for the age group of students, or do not include the sub-dimensions of contemporary piano education. In this case, it was decided to conduct this research to determine the beginner piano method books that can be used in these institutions. The aim of this study is to increase the efficiency of piano instruction being implemented in music teacher training institutions. This is a descriptive research using qualitative data analysis techniques. The data were collected using document review method. For selecting the materials to be reviewed, the related literature was searched and it was decided to review 4 different piano methods for adult beginners prepared with contemporary approach. Then the literature on instrument method review was searched and it is decided to make the review under three main headings as "Teaching Approach", "Complementary Content" and "Visual Design". Once the subheadings were also determined, the review form was finalized by taking the opinions of the field’s expert lecturers. Then the selected publications were reviewed and evaluated through the method review form, and the strengths and weaknesses of methods were compared. As a result of the study, "Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course" has been determined as the most suitable method book to be used in music teacher training institutions.
