Abstract:

Ecemiş River is located between Niğde Massive and Aladağ which is eastern part of the Middle Taurus Mountains. It has NNE-SSW directed tectonic basin. It gives the name of the Ecemiş Fault Zone (E.F.Z) which is one of the most important faults of our country. The local base level changes and rejuvenations are formed depend on this fault in depression area of Ecemiş River. In addition, the tributaries originating from the Aladağ were exposed Pleistocene glacial and interglacial morphoclimatic denudation processes. This situation caused changes in stream level. Therefore morphotectonic and morphoclimatic processes affecting during Plio-Quaternary caused developing of polycyclic forms such as alluvial fans, inclosed meanders and knickpoint showed in cross section. In addition, the shift showed in stream tributaries and warping indicate that effect of vertical and lateral throw tectonic activities has been not lost yet in this region.
