Self-assessment is one of the alternative assessment methods which have been in use since the introduction of new primary school curricula. Self-assessment is defined as students’ making judgments about their own learning and is associated with metacognitive knowledge and lifelong learning. This study aims to develop a scale to identify primary school students’ attitudes on selfassessment. This study was carried out with 1150 primary school students in districts of Bakırköy and Bağcilar in Istanbul. As a result, scale items were found to have high loadings on one factor and internal consistency and split-test analyses revealed high coefficients of reliability.
