Abstract Non-Muslims who accept the dominance of Islam, from time of debt agreement which was signed during the period of the Prophet Muhammed, had attained the opportunity to live with Muslims, saving their religion and culture. According to Muslims religious laws, non-Muslims' lives and goods were guarded by the state and freedom of belief and worship was granted to them. The religious leaders were given freedom, and those who served for the Ottoman Empire were exempted from paying a number of tax. In this article, after presenting how the Ottoman Empire treated to the nonmuslims living under its administration, the situations of non-Muslims who shared the same city, district, bazaar and so forth with Muslims in Diyarbakır for the years between XVII. and XVIII. centuries were explained in the light of Qadi registers and the documents that support them.
