In the Middle Ages, at the peak of Islamic polemical tradition, Samaw’al al- Maghribî’s İfhâm al-Yahûd was one of the most important polemics. Distortion and alteration, abrogation (naskh) and predictions for the prophet Muhammed are the main issues of this polemic which were explained with various examples and also it has authentic content never before seen in other polemics. Ifhâm al-Yahûd has a special place with its content about Jewish religious and social life and original hebrew texts and had spread on a large area. So it had a great impact on later Muslim and Jewish writers. Maghribî’s writings show that he may be in uenced by Karaite thoughts. In this article, it will be examined Judaism critique of İfhâm al-Yahûd and its place in polemical tradition will be evaluated.
