Values have important functions in ensuring the continuity, peace and happiness of societies. Therefore, values education emerges as a concept which has been emphasized especially in recent years. Teachers have important role on values education. However, teachers trained in the same community may develop different value systems because of the education they have received. In particular, teachers trained in language-based disciplines, seen as a cultural actuation process, can develop different value systems. Therefore, in this study, it was aimed to investigate the value preferences of Turkish and English teacher candidates who are studying in two different languages and cultures. The study group of the research consists of Turkish and English teacher candidates who are studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of Karadeniz Technical University Fatih Education Faculty. The personal information form and the Rokeach Value Inventory were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical techniques (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation), Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney U test. The results show that there are some differences in the value preferences of the teacher candidates.
