Safavid Empire was founded by Shah Ismail at the beginning of the 16th century. Shah Abbas was the most notable ruler of this dynasty. Shah Abbas, who sat on the throne under difficult circumstances, provided inside the central authority and constituted a modern army. Thus, the western and the eastern border enemies become ineffective.
