Many Western voyagers and scientists who happened to pass Caucasus in the18th and 19th century left behind detailed works describing the geography and the societies of this geography as legacy. Thanks to the comprehensive works of Western voyagers such as Johann Anton Güldenstädt, Jacob Reineggs, M. De Peysonnel, Julius von Klaproth, Marie Felicite Brosset, Robert Sears, Robert Lyall, D. Freshfield, Ernest Chantre and Cornelis de Bruijn, Caucasian cultural, administrative and demographic situation passed to next generations. Those writings about the local history and the Russian occupation of the region were completely neutral resources, which made an important contribution to the creation of the Caucasian image on European minds.
