The temettuat registers collections in Prime Ministerial Ottoman Archives provide significant data for the researchers in understanding the 19 th Century Ottoman world and revealing socio-economic structure of the Empire. These registers are economic reflections of reconstructing activities of the state structure started withTanzimat and provide relevant region’s micro and macro socio-economic picture and include the most detailed and important economic data of the Ottoman lands, thus enabling researchers to analyze the countryside. This study, in the light of temettuat registers, aims to reveal the socio-economic structure of Vushtrri/Vučitrn, which was a town under Prishtine Kaimakamship of the Skopje Province when the registers were recorded. After a short description of geographic position, an assessment on the number of neighbor-hoods and households, ethnic and vocational distribution of the population, architectural monuments of the town and their condition today is given. Besides, changes in administrative and demographic structure of Vushtrri/Vučitrn during the late 19 th Centry when the town gained status of Kaza within the Kosovo Province is analyzed.
