When Russia occupied the Caucasus, masses of the native people had to leave their homeland because of the politics carried out by Russians. Caucasian peoples who were forced to abandon their homeland, sheltered to the Ottoman Empire in mass migrations. The Ottoman Empire placed the Caucasus refugees including the Nogay Turks and Circassian tribes both to Anatolia and Rumelia. In this study, we will deal with the settlement of the Caucasian refugees, especially Circassians in Rumelia, and the treatment by the Ottoman Empire.
