Abstract enHaydarpaşa-İzmit Railway, which was opened in 3rd May 1873, is the first public railway that constructed by the state . The construction of line also benefited from the maritime transport. Bostancı, Pendik, Eskihisar, Diliskelesi and İzmit piers were improved and used for this reason. The line run by the state for 7 years; then leased to the British. After running for eight and a half year by British, Ottoman Government forcibly took the line from British and gave it to the Germans. In this study, the stages of the Haydarpaşa-İzmit Railway will be discussed before becoming the part of Anatolian Railways during the last quarter of the 19th century
