Özet:

Abstract enAutomotive is considered to be one of the most important industries providing the economic growth. The development of this industry leads to the development of other sectors linked to automotive. History of electric cars based on the late 1800s, has lost its importance after the 1920s because of the spread of internal combustion engines that is one of the turning points in the automotive industry. On the other hand, in the 2000s, as a result of reduction of fossil fuel reserves and the destabilization of their prices and increased awareness of the negative effects on the environment, alternative fuel vehicles and electric cars, have been emerged again.In this study, firstly, the development of electric cars that came to the fore in the context of environmental protection and reducing dependence on fossil fuels is stated. Secondly, contributions of electric cars on Turkey’s economy and especially on its foreign trade have been investigated. According to the findings obtained, in addition to being eco-friendly, positive impacts of electric cars on foreign trade increase in case of the production of spare parts and especially of batteries belonging to electrical vehicles in the country. Finally, in case of the supply of the electricity from renewable energy sources of the country the positive impacts of electric cars of the production reaches to the highest level
