Abstract enMass tourism in developing countries such as Turkey has been shaped by the demand structures of developed countries. Public policy to the mass tourism in Turkey was established with Five Years Development Plans in 1960’s. Especially foreign mass tourism activities in the coastal regions such as Mediterranean and Aegean have been encouraged by public authorities since the end of 1960’s. The number of foreign tourists arrive to these regions has been increased rapidly with tourism encouragements in 1980’s. After that, some negative economic and environmental impacts have been occurred in these regions since the end of 1990’s. However, the new types of tourism that environmentally and economically more sustainable have been emerged since 1990’s in the world. These new types of tourism such as Ecotourism, Cultural tourism, trekking, nature tourism, Agrotourism, conference tourism, halth/spa, religious tourism, adventure and sport tourism are rising as recent trends in the world. The aim of this paper is to analyze the change of Turkey’s tourism policies according to the rising new types of tourism in the world
