Özet:

Abstract enMass tourism in developing countries such as Turkey has been shaped by the demand structures of developed countries. Public policy to the mass tourism in Turkey was established with Five Years Development Plans in the 1960s. Especially foreign mass tourism activities in the coastal regions such as the Mediterranean and the Egean have been encouraged by public authorities since the end of the 1960s. The number of foreign tourists arriving to these regions has been increased rapidly with tourism encouragements in the 1980s. After that, some negative economic and environmental impacts have been occurring in these regions since the end of the 1990s. However, the new types of tourism that environmentally and economically more sustainable have been emerging since the 1990s in the world. These new types of tourism such as Ecotourism, Cultural tourism, trekking, nature tourism, Agrotourism, conference tourism, halth/spa, religious tourism, adventure and sport tourism are rising as recent trends in the world.
