The purpose of this study is to analyze of 7th grade Turkish language textbooks prepared by two different publishing companies and recommended by the Ministry of Education in terms of form, content and text. Determination of literary texts, used in Turkish language textbooks in terms of creating pleasure for reading in students, developing their linguistic skills, ensuring their socialization and comprehending cultural values, is a very important issue. The underlying criteria when analyzing textbooks, prepared by the experts in Pasifik and Zambak publications in order to teach Turkish effectively, can be collected under three main groups, such as stylistic appearance, scientific content and language-expressional features. While one of the two textbooks, belonging to Zambak publication, is mostly being used in private schools and in teaching Turkish to foreigners, the one, belonging to Pasifik publications, is prefered by public schools. According to the findings obtained by contentanalysis method at the end of the study, it has been determined that, even though both of the books show similar physical properties, they differ from one another in terms of content, frequency of texts used in the books and diversity of text types.
