This research has been aimed at determining the critical thinking tendencies of students who are receving education in physical training and sports, and evaluation of this in terms of some variables. It comprises of 295 participants (148 women and 147 men) chosen randomly based on voluntary participation. As a data collection tool, The California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory which was developed by Facione in 1990 and translated into Turkish by Kökdemir (2003) is used along with a personal information form. According to the results obtained, the critical thinking tendency score of the participants related to the total scale is designated as 217,28 (ss=23,20). With regards to sex, it is found that the total score average of women for critical thinking tendency is higher while there isn’t significant difference in terms of subscales. When the critical thinking tendencies of students according to their field of study are examined, the significant difference is found only in curiosity and seeking the truth subscales. The curiosity score average of students studying physical training teaching is identified as significantly higher than the average of those studying sport management and coaching. In terms of seeking the truth subscale, it is determined that the students studying sport management have significantly higher score average than those studying physical training. The results obtained are comparatively discussed in the light of literature knowledge. In consequence; such programmes, which are used for providing the students graduated from school of physical education and sports with high critical thinking ability, should have the quality of leading the students studying such fields.
