It is so natural that a religious tradition aiming to cover all aspects of life builds up a theoretical and practical system about the “brotherhood” concept which is one of the fundamental elements of social peace. This concept is one of the basic subjects both in Quran and Hadith and the following Islamic literature. One of the most important scholars dealt with this issue was al-Ghazali. As a system thinker, al-Ghazali created a detailed project about the brotherhood by discussing this matter in different ways in his various works and especially in his masterpiece, Ihya. This article debates on the one hand, his grip on the key is-sues such as the brotherhood and responsibilities of the brothers against each other analytically, on the other hand whether his project were realizable.
