In this article Israel has been discussed the current state, which has been claimed to extend its roots thousands of years ago but emerged as a state about seventy years ago. Israel was established in the face of antisemitic movements that began in the late 19th century, as a result of the activities of Zionism, which emerged with the intent of finding a home in Jews as a result of UN resolutions in 1948. The dilemmas based on religion and ethnicity in Israel are influential in every field from education to law. On the one side there are differences between the Jews such as Ashkenazi and Sepharad, on the other side there are conflicts with the Arabs. With all their dilemmas, Israel accepts values like democracy, equality and freedom of religion but it is difficult to apply them. It should be known the attitude towards religion and secularism in order to understand Israel's situation in the modern era and the problems that arise because of this situation. Israel, although founded in a secular sense, is a component of Jewish identity, so it can not be completely removed from its ties with religion.
