The purpose of this study was to examine the functions of education and school committees in Turkish public schools. Data were collected randomly selected 36 individuals serving on these committees by using semi structured interviewing technique in the city of Eskisehir in 2006–2007 educational years. Descriptive analysis technique was used in examining the findings of the study. The findings of the study indicate that school districts principals committee was negatively affected from too much red tape procedures. In addition, the result of the study indicate that the school committees face some problems working with local managements and NGO’s that they work together as well as lack of financial resources. Finally, committees face problems in implementing and putting committee decisions into practice.
