Abstract:

Foundations are crucial foundations that provide a number of needs of public in the Ottoman time.For God’s sake women or men whoever have a good financial situtation set up foundations in every living space. As in the other regions of the Ottoman Empire,in Samsun,which was the center of Canik District,various foundations were established by wom-en.The first of them,dated September 16th 1833,belongs to Ayşe Hanım bint-i Abdullah(Ms. Ayşe,Daughter of Abdullah).The last of them is the foundation certificate charter which is dated July 18th 1922 and belongs to Emine Hanım bint-i Bilal(Ms.Emine,Daughter of Bilal).Between those dates foundations in a number of areas vary from madrasah to fountain,from mosque lighting to chant foundations were established and put into public service by women in Samsun.
