Kemalettin Sami Pasha (1884-1934) is a soldier who fought at the forefronts of the Balkan Wars, World War I and National Struggle and got promoted to generalship in the Turkish army. He also got wounded many times during these wars and went through long treatment processes. Kemalettin Sami Pasha who had been one of the close friends of Mustafa Kemal Pasa since the National Struggle entered into the Turkish Grand National Assembly as the Sinop Representative in August, 1923. Together with the foundation of the Turkish Republic, the Pasha began his duty in Germany as the Berlin Ambassador in 1924. He assumed an important task in the Turkish-German diplomatic, political, economic and cultural relationships. Throughout his duty as the Berlin Ambassador; Kemalettin Sami Pasha met with many journalists, businessmen, ambassadors, parliamentarians, ministers, prime ministers, as well as many significant personalities such as the German Chancellor Hitler, German President Hindenburg and Albert Einstein in Germany. The activities carried out by the Pasha during his duty as the Berlin Ambassador and his observations-based reports are of prime importance. He was appreciated and liked greatly by the German high society. His activities had an extensive coverage in the Turkish press. He also carried out a task as the Turkish National Olympiad President between 1930- 1933. His duty as the Berlin Ambassador which he carried out successfully between 1924-1934, came to an end with his passing in 1934. Kemalettin Sami Pasha’s family was given the surname Gokcen after his passing.
