Melih Cevdet Anday (1915-2002), Garip’ten sonra giderek daha zor anlaşılan, düşünsel arka planı yoğun, okurdan zengin bir ansiklopedi talep eden bir şiir oluşturmuştur. Şair, Kolları Bağlı Odysseus’tan (1962) başlamak üzere şiirlerinde mitolojik unsurlara gittikçe artan oranda yer vermeye başlamıştır. Teknenin Ölümü (1975) ve Ölümsüzlük Ardında Gılgamış (1981) adlı kitaplarında da mitoloji, şiirin ana bileşenlerinden biri olarak kullanılmıştır. Şiirlerini yorumlayan eleştirmenler de Melih Cevdet Anday’ın mitolojiden beslenmesini tartışmıştır. Yunanca söz, öykü anlamına gelen mitos (mythos), yazısız devirlerde yaşayan ilksel insanların doğayı anlama ve onunla baş etme çabalarının sonunda ortaya çıkmış; doğa olaylarının tanrısal varlıklar olarak tasarlanması esasına göre oluşmuştur. Mitler, ilksel toplumların yazılı olmayan ve kuşaktan kuşağa aktarılan geçmişleridir. Yazılı devirlerle birlikte mitler, inanılırlıklarını yitirmiş; toplumların mitlere yüklediği sembolik anlamlar da ortadan kalkmıştır. Bununla birlikte mitler edebiyatın ve diğer sanat türlerinin ilham kaynağı olmayı yüzyıllarca sürdürmüştür. Melih Cevdet Anday da bir yazısında insanlığın mitosları hiçbir zaman aşamadığını; “o us dışı, tanrılar, kahramanlar”ın kılık değiştirerek sonraki uygarlıklara, inanışlara sızdığını ileri sürmüştür. Bu makalede Teknenin Ölümü’nde yer alan Homeros’un İlyada’sı ile kurduğu metinlerarası ilişkiyle dikkat çeken “Troya Önünde Atlar” şiiri, mitolojik unsurların temsili ekseninde incelenecektir. Şairin mitosları çağdaş dünyaya nasıl taşıdığı, öyküye yeni eklemeler yapıp yapmadığı, modern dünyanın bir insanı olarak mitosa yeni anlamlar katıp katmadığı tartışılacaktır. Myths are the backgrounds of primitive societies that are not written and passed down from generation to generation. The myths with their written eras lost their credibility; the symbolic meanings of societies on myths have also disappeared. However, myths have continued to be the source of inspiration for literature and other art forms for centuries. In one of his articles, Melih Cevdet Anday states that the myths of humanity have never exceeded; claims “gods, heroes that are out of mind” infiltrated into subsequent civilizations and beliefs in disguise. In this article, the poem “Troya Önünde Atlar” which draws attention with the intertextual relationship that Homeros established with Ilyada will be examined in the axis of representation of mythological elements. It will be discussed how the poet carries the myths to the contemporary world, whether he makes new additions to the story, whether he adds new meanings to the mythos as a human being of the modern world. Melih Cevdet Anday (1915-2002), created a poem that was increasingly difficult to understand after the Strange, with a thought background intense, requiring a rich encyclopedia from the reader. The poet began in his poems from the Hand-Binding Odyssey (1962) to increasingly place mythological elements in his poems. In his books The Death of the Boat (1975) and The Glamour After Immortality (1981) the mythology was also used as one of the main components of the poem. The critics who interpreted their poems also discussed Melih Cevdet Anday's nutrition from mythology. The Greek word, the myth, which means story, appeared at the end of the efforts of primitive people living in unwritten periods to understand and deal with nature; it was formed according to the essence of the design of natural events as divine beings. The myths are the unwritten and transmitted pasts of primary societies from generation to generation. With the written periods, the myths have lost their credibility, and the symbolic meanings that the societies have charged with the myths have disappeared. However, the myths have continued to be the source of inspiration for literature and other kinds of art for centuries. Melih Cevdet Anday also wrote in a paper that mankind’s myths could never overcome; “this out of the US, the gods, the heroes” changed their clothes and penetrated into subsequent civilizations, beliefs. In this article, the poem "The Horse in front of Troy", which attracted attention to the intertext relationship that Homeros established with the Illyada, in the Death of the Boat, will be studied in the representative axis of mythological elements. It will be discussed how the poet carries myths to the contemporary world, whether he makes new additions to the story, whether he adds new meanings to the myth as a man of the modern world.
