Özet:

It is possible to describe a favorable fast as a true or right fast, which God wants and pleases from His servants. The Qur’an says: “Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you.” From this point of view, it is understood that fasting is also ordered for members of other religions, including Jews and Christians before Islam. This article focuses on how is fasting described in the Holy Quran, Jewish and Christian scriptures? What similarities and differences exist between the depictions of acceptable fasting in the sacred texts?  What is the essence of fasting in the context of "true fasting" described in Isaiah's Book 58, and what are the characteristics of the favorable fasting that the Lord will be pleased with in the phenomenological sense?   The fasting worship, which had an ancient history, was a secret recommendation of the sacred texts. In addition, it is stated in the sacred texts that in order to have a favorable value in the sight of God, fasting should be observed in addition to manners and mysteries (wissdom), both as a means of nurturing one's own self and as a worship that provides closer convergence in his relationship with God.
