In today’s world where the dimensions of global trade have widened considerably, the increase in foreign trade volumes of the countries is not sufficient to ensure a sustainable growth. The increase of the interdependence among countries, leads to the spread of a shock experienced in one country to other countries. In this respect, it becomes important that countries diversify their export markets and the products they export in parallel with increasing their foreign trade volumes. In this way, the risks arising from possible shocks in trade partner countries will be reduced. In this study, the concentration of the trade performed by Turkey with European Union countries was examined. As a result of the study in which product and country diversification of Turkey in the European Union market is analyzed via Concentration Ratio (CR), Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) and Gini-Hirschman Index (GNI), it is revealed that diversification in both product and country is achieved in terms of export. In addition, it was found that the diversification in import was remained limited and there was a development in export in terms of quality
