Abstract:

This study includes the findings of negotiations with blue-held workers working in the textile industry. The study aims to clarify the expectations and factors that influence the retirement decision and the views on post-retirement work and the planning and accumulation tendencies for the retirement period. With this aim, the quality research method has been used for the purpose of collecting the data that can be the basis for the work; in this context, a half-structured deep discussion has been conducted with 50 years old and over 11 individuals working in the textile industry. The talks showed that a significant proportion of participants defined retirement as a material dimension and therefore the view of retirement focused around negative perceptions. Health problems life, financial difficulties, home-related responsibilities and the presence of another family member given care, the presence of factors such as child education indicate negative expectations and attitudes towards retirement; having a regular retirement income, a desire to spend more time with the family and travel prepares the ground for positive expectations towards retirement.
