Modernitenin siyaset, toplum, din üzerindeki etkilerine ve bu olguları nasıl dönüştürdüğüne dair pek çok farklı yaklaşım vardır. Bu yaklaşımların odak noktasını din ile seküler kavramları oluşturmuştur. Klasik yaklaşım, Batı modernitesinin sekülerleştirdiğini, dinin siyasal ve toplumsal etkilerini tamamen ortadan kaldırdığını ya da azalttığını iddia etmiştir. Klasik teze karşı yeni paradigma, sekülerin yerine dini olanın yükselişine dikkat çekmiştir. Ancak bu iki paradigmadan farklı olarak Nilüfer Göle, seküler ile din arasındaki ilişkiyi Batı merkezli bir idealite yerine Batı-dışı toplumların kendine mahsus modernleşme tecrübeleri üzerinden yeniden okumuştur. Bu çalışmada Göle’nin Türk modernleşmesine yönelik analizleri üzerinden kamusal alanların ve mekânların kurgulanan ve sahnelenen yüzleri değerlendirilecek; kamusal alanlardan dışlanan merkez-kaç unsurların meydan okumaları ve bu alanlara talip olmaları sonucu kamusal mekânları nasıl dönüştürdükleri ve kendilerinin de neye dönüştükleri yazarın perspektifinden sekülerleşme tartışmaları bağlamında ele alınacaktır. Çalışma konusu bağlamında yazarın değindiği temel kavram ve yaklaşımlar içerik analizi yöntemine uygun olarak kritik edilmeye çalışılmıştır.
There are many different approaches to the impact of modernity on politics, society, religion and how it transforms these phenomena. Concepts of religion and secular have been the focus of these approaches. The classical approach claimed that Western modernity secularized, completely abolished or diminished the political and social influences of religion. In opposition to classical thesis, the new paradigm pointed the thesis of the religious out rather than the secular. However, unlike these two paradigms, Nilüfer Lake re-read the relationship between secular and religion through the unique modernization experiences of non-Western societies rather than a Western-centered ideal. In this study, the fictionalized faces of public realms and will be evaluated with in the secularization context over Lake's analyses of Turkish modernization. Basic concepts and approaches mentioned by the author in the context of the subject are studied under the content analysis method.
