The United Nations Convention on Contracts for International Sale of Goods (CISG), pop- ularly known as the Vienna Sales Convention creates a uniform law for the international sale of goods. This Convention, which was drafted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), was adopted unanimously on 10 April 1980 at the Vienna Conference. Currently, 80 States have ratified, approved or acceded to the Convention which became the worldwide law governing international sales transactions. The concept of Fundamental Breach is defined in CISG art. 25. Fundamental breach plays an important role in terms of the Vienna Sales Convention that it constitutes to the aggrieved party of the contract the right to avoid the contract. Because of this, CISG art. 25 is one of the key provisions of the Vienna Sales Convention. The aim of our study is to explain and to give general information about the concept of fundamental breach under the Vienna Sales Convention.
