The aim of this study is to identify whether there is an integrated and causal relationship between the capacity indicators of the health system in Turkey and economic growth. In the study, the number of health institutions as a capacity indicator, the number of health staff and the number of beds, and as an indicator of economic growth, using the real non-profit domestic income variable, the 51 year time series of the period 1966-2016 was studied by the Integration Analysis method. The long-term problems were solved by the Vector Error Correction Model, while the causality relationship between the variables was determined by the Granger causality test. The data analysis was carried out using the EViews 8 package program. The study found that a unit increase in the number of health workers in the long term resulted in a decrease of 10.3 units in economic growth, while a unit increase in the number of beds resulted in an increase of 93.4 units in economic growth. In the short period, a one-way causal relationship was also identified from the number of health institutions and the number of beds to the economic growth and from the number of health institutions to the number of health personnel. In Turkey, it is important to create a strong health system substructure to improve health levels, improve social well-being and accelerate the economic growth process.
