Fight against discrimination, scope of which is so vast as to include human rights and minority issues are also crucial in terms of EU’s approach towards gender equality. Although during the early phases of integration the issue was perceived mainly in economic terms, as the integration proceeded gender equality was placed in a wider context including social and human-rights related dimensions. Thus, legal dispositions concerning gender equality which fall under the scope of social law form also an integral part of EU’s antidiscrimination policy. Departing from conceptual framework and various forms of discrimination, the study aims to analyse the main provisions of the acquis in this field
