Abstract With the Health Transition Program in Turkey being put into practice in 2003, major changes in the health sector have occurred. The increase in the quality of public health institutions and the increase in the number of private health institutions have accelerated the competition environment in the health sector. This situation has pushed private health institutions to new searches in the sector and to make a difference to the service purchasers. Institutions have found that the concept of brand equity is the way of creating competitive advantage, creating brand awareness, creating customer satisfaction, increasing brand loyalty, increasing profitability, creating a strong image and becoming an institution different from its competitors. In order to ensure brand equity, they must know how their service is perceived by service purchasers. In this context, it is thought that it will be useful to examine the effects of perceived quality on brand equity. The aim of the study, which is important for private health institutions, is to examine the effect of quality perceptions of service purchasers from health institutions with high brand awareness in Kayseri city center to institutional brand equity. It is also aimed to examine the relationship between quality perceptions of service purchasers and brand equity, and the effect of brand equity elements on institutional brand equity. For this purpose, a survey study was conducted on 260 service purchasers of 4 private health institutions with high brand awareness in Kayseri. As a result of the study, a significant effect of the quality perceptions of the service purchasers on the institutional brand equity has been determined. Moreover, it is observed that three elements of the brand equity affect the institutional brand equity.
