This paper deals with the problems of translator training which has started to gain scientific significance only after the second half of the 20th century. In this respect, it has been explored how the translation activity, which has become an indispensable tool in all areas in the 21st century, reflects upon translator training in connection to the changes in paradigms as a result of globalization. In order to offer translator training which can meet the strong needs of business and professional world for translation, the ways that students can be educated to have multifaceted skills and to develop their creativity are discussed here. In this context, effective use of exercises which are particularly for written translation is gaining importance. While in translator training it is emphasized that factors and norms affecting translation might change from one text to another and from one society to another, the function of translation should be considered in structuring the translated text. It is also mentioned in the study that in order to show students the complexity of translation phenomenon in the course of their training, they be guided in such a way that their specialization in translation go beyond simple improvement of their foreign language and is maintained according to various purposes considering the expectations of the target reader.
