Individuals can use free time opportunities such as self-realization, personal relationships, social integration and quality of life. Women's occupational status, women's monthly income levels, family participation in sports, the availability of sports facilities, the appropriate social environment, the influence of close environment and groups of friends, the effect of television, the phenomenon of time and interest in this issue are among the most important reasons affecting their participation in physical activity. It is aimed to determine the motivations and constraints of the women in participating in the recreational activities. In this study, one of the Quantitative Research Methods, General Scanning Model which reveals phenomena and events by making them observable, measurable and numerically predictable was used. The sample was formed by 350 women whose average age is 36,26 ranging between 20-55, living in the centre of Manisa. For data collection, Leisure Motivation Scale and Leisure Constraints Scale were used. In the analysis of the data, Percentage, Frequency, ANOVA, TUKEY Test and Correlation analyses were used. According to the obtained results; it is determined that 178 (%50,8) of the women are employed, 142 (%40,6) of them are housewives and 30 (%8,6) of them are retired, when their occupational groups are considered. A medium-level and positive relationship between the psychology of the individual and amotivation sub-dimensions was found (r=,402; p<,01). In the extrinsic regulating sub-dimension of participants, it was found that there is a significant difference between the sub-dimensions of doing sports and going to the cinema/theatre F(4, 345)=9,67. In the facility sub-dimension of Leisure Constraints Scale, there isn't any statistically significant difference. In this scope, it can be recommended that activities that will increase the interest and knowledge of the women could be done in order to spread the recreational activities.
