arMany researches in the context of Orientalist studies have been devoted to different aspects of Muḥammad's life. One of this studies is the theory of truth al- Muḥammadiyya, which is placed in Islamic terminology by followers of Islamic mysticism. In theory, the light (nūr) of the Prophet is seen as a self, the source of all creatures, and the manifestation of divine light. In the studies, the effect of the theory on prophethood was evaluated together with prophet Muḥammad's prophetic aspect and role. It is observed that Islamic mysticisms and orientalists focus on the definition and the sense of the theory as well as its origin and its source. Academic interpretations of the theory of the orientalists are superficial in academic studies prepared by Islamic researchers. Therefore, in the Islamic world it is necessary to conduct detailed and independent studies, on the approaches of different orientalists to this theory taking into account their expertise. Although many orientalists refer directly or indirectly to the theory of truth al-Muḥammadiyya, in this article we examine the approaches to this theory of Ignaz Goldziher recognized by his hadith studies but also the approach of Annemarie Schimmel who worked on the perception of "Sufism Muhammad".
