In this study, numerical modeling of the low-slope subcritical open channel current is carried out with the help of the Ansys Fluent package program which is based on the finite volume method using RANS equations. Re-normalization Group (RNG), Shear Stress Transport (SST) and Reynolds Stresses models (RSM) are used to solve the basic equations governing the movement of flow in numerical models, and Volume of Fluid (VOF) method is used to determine the water-air intersection. Ardıçlıoğlu (1994), in his study, flow velocity profiles obtained experimentally are compared with the results obtained by using different turbulence models. In the comparisons, mean square error (MSE) and mean absolute relative error (MARE) values are preferred as quantitative criteria. Experimental and numerical velocity profiles obtained from different sections made according to these criteria are compared. As a result, SST turbulence model is found to be more successful in numerical modeling of subcritical open channel current than other turbulence models used.
