Abstract:

The aim of this study is to evaluate the rise of Islam in Europe and Turkey by the sociologist Nilüfer Göle, who has announced his name with his research on modernity, secularism and Islamism, which he defines as a political identity. The scope of the study will be focused on the physical and speech dimensions of Islamism, which has become a contemporary of the modern world in Europe, and has become a contemporary of the class identity in both today’s Turkey, and has begun to gain visibility with all its differences in individual practices and in public spaces. The main thesis of the article is that the author must take more attention to the Europe, which is not only defined by a religious identity and not limited to the geography of the Middle East, but also as a political identity, especially with the Western world’s religious and cultural differences and democratic teamulles. This requirement will also enable the discussion of issues such as “foreign hostility”, “rasism” and “islamfobia” that are increasingly emerging in the West, and the sensitivity of the Muslims excluded and questioned because of their beliefs and membership.
