Since the Kao-ch'ang State (502-640) is in a strategic position on the Silk Road, it has since been the scene of the struggles of the major forces of the region. In Central Asian Turkish history, the Huns, the Kao-ch, the T'ieh, the Heavenly Turks, the Tibetans and the Uyghurs have continuously fought with the dynasties in China to control the area in which the east-west-axis trade is concentrated and therefore various civilizations meet. After the destruction of the Orhun Uighur state in 840, the Uighurs settled in the region, created the original Turkish civilization on the culture and civilization that existed here. Therefore, the study of the region’s history before the Turkishization will make a great contribution to the illumination of the Turkish culture history.
