Abstract:

Narrative texts have a great importance in raising children as virtuous individuals. In the modern age, where technology addiction is rapidly increasing and values are rapidly corrupting, the importance of narrative texts that inculcate virtues is also increasing. In this regard, novels that will be role models for children and that are based on virtues should not appear. Kemalettin Tuğcu's children's novels are qualified to be evaluated in terms of virtues and role model characters. In this study, Kemalettin Tuğcu's children's novels are examined in the context of role models. The findings obtained in the study are associated with the theme of virtues in the 2019 Turkish Curriculum. The main purpose of the study is to evaluate Kemalettin Tuğcu's novels in terms of Turkish education and character development of children. The study consists of four main parts. In the introduction part of the study, information is given about the purpose and importance of the research, the problem situation, scope and limitations. In the second part of the study, the concepts of role model and character education were defined and their relationship with literary works was evaluated. In the third part of the study, the data obtained are evaluated. In the conclusion and suggestions section of the study, the aspect of the examined novels regarding Turkish education has been revealed. According to the results of the evaluation, it has been seen that Kemalettin Tuğcu's novels are suitable for Turkish education.
