Abstract:

Günümüzde öğretmenlik mesleğini icra edebilmek için öğretmen adaylarına yüksek öğretim kurumlarında, özellikle de eğitim fakültelerinde genel kültür, pedagojik formasyon ve özel alan eğitimi verilmektedir. Bu eğitim ile çağın ihtiyaçlarını karşılayabilecek tam donanımlı öğretmenlerin yetiştirilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Osmanlı döneminde örgün eğitim kurumlarında öğretmenlik mesleğinin ilk karşılığı, sıbyan mekteplerinde görev yapan muallimler ve medreselerde görev yapan müderrisler ile karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Modern anlamıyla Fransız devrimi ile başlayan öğretmen yetiştirme fikri, Osmanlı Devleti’nde 1848 yılında Darülmuallimîn’nin açılması ile kendine yer bulmuştur. Bu kurum daha sonra değişik isimlerde varlığını Cumhuriyet döneminde de sürdürmüş ve 2014 yılında okulun fen lisesine dönüştürülmesi ile öğretmen yetiştirmedeki misyonu sona ermiştir. Türkiye’nin eğitim tarihinde ve öğretmen yetiştirmede büyük öneme sahip olan Darülmuallimîn’in, coğrafya öğretmenlerinin yetiştirilmesindeki katkısı bu çalışmanın temel amacını oluşturmuştur. Bu amaçla yapılan çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Coğrafya öğretmeni yetiştirmeyi konu alan araştırmada 19.yüzyıldan başlayarak günümüze kadar geniş perspektiften genel olarak öğretmen yetiştirme konusunda, özelde ise coğrafya öğretmeni yetiştirme hususunda neler yapıldığı, ne gibi başarıların elde edildiği incelenmiştir. Derinlemesine analizler yapmak için de kurumdaki coğrafya kitapları ve programları, yardımcı kaynaklar, istatistikler ve diğer belgeler incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bilgiler ışığında; Darülmuallimîn’in bilinen adıyla Çapa Öğretmen Okulu’nun ülkenin her bölgesindeki okullara coğrafya öğretmeni yetiştirilmesinde, coğrafya ders kitapları ve öğretim programlarının hazırlanmasında önemli bir role sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Today, to be able to carry out the teaching profession, teachers candidates are provided with general culture, pedagogical formation and special field education in higher education institutions, especially in educational faculty. This training is aimed at educating fully equipped teachers who can meet the needs of the age. In the Ottoman period, the first reward of the teaching profession in the ordinary educational institutions comes to us with the teachers who work in the Sibian messengers and the teachers who work in the medreses. The idea of educating teachers, which began in the modern sense with the French revolution, found its place in the Ottoman State with the opening of Darülmuallimîn in 1848. This institution later continued its existence in various names during the Republic period and in 2014 the school was transformed into a high school of science and its mission in teaching was completed. Darülmuallimîn’s contribution to the education of geographical teachers, which has a great importance in the history of education and teaching of Turkey, has formed the main objective of this study. For this purpose, the study used the method of document examination from the quality research patterns. The research on the training of geographical teachers, from the 19th century to the present day, has studied what has been done and what success has been achieved in the training of geographical teachers in general and in particular. In order to make profound analyses, geographical books and programs in the institution, assistant sources, statistics and other documents have also been studied. In light of the information obtained; it has been established that the Chapa Teacher School, known as Darülmuallimîn, has an important role in the training of geography teachers to schools in every region of the country, in the preparation of geography curricula and curricula.

In the Ottoman period, firstly, the teachers who performed the teaching profession were the teachers in the primary schools and the professors in the madrasas. The idea of teacher training, which started with the French revolution, was found in the Ottoman Empire in 1848 with the opening of Darülmuallimîn. This institution continued to exist under different names during the Republican era and in 2014, the mission of educating teachers ended with the transformation of the school into a science high school. Darülmuallimîn was an important place in the history of education in Turkey. It played an important role in teacher training. The main purpose of this study is to determine the contribution of Darülmuallimîn to the training of geography teachers. For this purpose, document analysis method, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. In this research, which focuses on the training of geography teachers, it has been examined what has been done and what success has been achieved in terms of teacher training in general and especially in the training of geography teachers from the 19th century to the present day. In order to make in-depth analysis, geography books and programs, supplementary resources, statistics and other documents were examined. As a result of the findings; It has been determined that Çapa Teacher Training School, known as Darülmuallimî, has trained geography teachers in schools in all regions of the country and played an important role in the preparation of geography textbooks and curricula.
