The Second Constitutional Monarchy Movement, for which the Committee of Union and Progress acted as a catalyst, had a great effect on the Turkish political life. Thus, its being "a military coup" as well as "a constitutional movement" had a big impact on and made a big change in the way of doing politics, forms of press and social organisation. When the press of that era is inspected, it is seen that at first there used to be a free environment. However, it is seen, gradually, that the press was exposed to political and legal pressures and sanctions. In this respect, in this study, how the press regime was, how the journalist identity was presented, and how journalists placed themselves in the political conditions during the era of the Committee of Union and Progress was discussed in the context of the Turkish novel. This study was designed in two stages. At the first stage of the study, political developments of the period and overall picture of the media were studied considering the key features and policy of Committee of Union and Progress. At the second stage of the study, the novel "Hüküm Gecesi" by Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu was analyzed and it was seen that the findings reflected the characteristics of the press of the era
