20. yüzyılın Alman yazarlarından birisi olan Hans Fallada, sadece Alman edebiyatında değil Dünya edebiyatında da Nasyonal Sosyalist dönem eleştirileri ile dikkat çeken önemli bir yazardır. Fallada, birey olarak yaşadığı dönemin negatif atmosferini hem bireysel açıdan hem de çağın sorunu olarak ele almayı tercih eder. Gerçekten beslenen yapıtlarını, kurmaca figürlerle ve kurmaca olaylarla tamamlar ve gerçeği ve kurmacayı başarılı bir biçimde harmanlar. Tarihsel ve politik konulara gönderme yapan yazar, ana hatlarıyla yazınsal yaratısını bu doğrultuda gerçekleştirir. Onun yapıtlarında arka planda yaşanmış gerçeklik hep hissedilir. Fallada, gündelik olayları aktaran bir yazar görüntüsü çizse de bu gündelik hayatın ardında iletmek istediği mesajların varlığı onu ve yapıtlarını tanıyan bir okur için şaşırtıcı değildir.
Bu çalışmamızda ele aldığımız “Ayyaş” ve Küçük Adam Ne Oldu Sana?” adlı romanları çağın sorunlarını yansıtan içerikleriyle dikkat çekmiştir. Yazar, seçtiği ve donattığı figürler üzerinden bir çağın sorununa ışık tutmuş ve tarihsel ve toplumsal panoramayı oldukça başarılı bir biçimde somutlaştırmıştır. Bu yüzden söz konusu romanları yazın dünyasında büyük bir yankı uyandırmıştır.

Fallada prefers to deal with the negative atmosphere of the time he lives as an individual as well as the problem of the age. They complete their truly nutritious works with fictional figures and fictional events, and successfully mix the truth and fiction. The writer who sends to historical and political subjects performs his written creation in this direction with his main lines. The reality in his work is always felt in the background.
