Turkish telecommunications industry has provided a relatively stable technological and business development since the 1990’s. This study reviews telecommunication policy and regulations in Turkey and put forward a number of recommendations. These are not new, reflecting to a large part best practice frameworks already in place in many industrialized countries which have helped develop competition in those countries. This study aims to evaluate the shares of the state and private companies in mobile and internet market. The call costs and technology level of the telecom market in Turkey are investigated in this paper. Turkey is a developing country and it needs to provide high-technology products as telecom industry products and services in order to close the technology gap in trade deficit. Communications is essential for development of Turkish trade and GDP. Telecommunication industry in Turkey is still at its infancy at least when compared to the advanced economies and so there is a need to investment on telecom infrastructure.
