Jan Vormann, who draws attention among contemporary mosaic artists, uses plastic bricks that belong to a worldwide known game as material. With these plastic bricks, the artist creates colourful mosaics on the city structures by filling the cracks on a sidewalk corner or a building. To understand Vormann’s expression and determine his historical significance, it has become necessary to make a research on the artist’s mosaics. In this research, the qualitative research method was used and the information gained from the research presented in three chapters. In the first chapter, mosaic art was explained in parallel with world-known artworks in its historical development. In the second part, the mosaics that Vormann named as Monumental Street Art were examined in conjunction with the artist’s biography. In the third chapter, the mosaics that the artist named as Dispatchwork Project were analyzed in the context of meaning, purpose, material, technique, process and idea. As a result, it has been determined that Vormann’s mosaics are significant in the history of mosaic art in terms of material using and artistic idea. In addition, it has become possible to consider that Vormann’s mosaics represent the future of mosaic art with this research.
