Teknolojide yaşanan ilerleme her alanı olduğu gibi medyayı da değiştirip, dönüştürüp, çeşitlendirmiştir. İnsanın sosyal bir varlık olması ve çevresinde olup bitene karşı duyarlılığı, enformasyon edinme ihtiyacı ile paraleldir. Dolayısıyla bireyler günümüz koşullarında enformasyon kaynaklarından biri olan haberi, geleneksel medyanın yanı sıra elektronik ortamlardan da edinmektedir.Bu çalışmada Kuzey Kıbrıs’ta yaşayan bireylerininternet tabanlı alanlardaki haber okuma alışkanlıkları hem okur, hem de haberleri oluşturan açısından incelenmiştir. Kuzey Kıbrıs özelinde yapılan bu araştırmada internet tabanlı alanlarda haber okuma ve okunan habere duyulan güven arasındaki ilişki analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırma amacına ulaşmak için farklı kuşaklardanyüz altı sosyal medya kullanıcısı üzerindeyüz yüze görüşme şeklinde alan araştırması ve Kuzey Kıbrıs’ta en yüksek tirajlı gazetesi Kıbrıs Gazetesi’nin haber müdürü ve yeni medya alanında yenilikçi atılımları ile dikkat çeken Gazedda Kıbrıs’ın genel yayın yönetmeniyle de röportaj yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmalar neticesinde, internet tabanlı alanlarda geniş çapta haber okuma pratiği sergilemesine rağmen, bireylerin internet ortamında yayınlanan haberlere karşı duyduğu güvensizliğin iki temel nedeni ortaya çıkmıştır. Birincisi internet ortamında teyit edilmemiş haber yaygınlığı dolayısıyla okuyucunun kaynağı iyi bilinmeyen haberlere karşı yaşadığı güvensizliktir. ikincisi ise okuyucunun haber detayını okumamasından ötürükendinden kaynaklı eksik bilgi dolayısıyla habere karşı yaşadığı güven sorunudur.
The advances in technology have changed, transformed and diversified the media as well as every field. The sensitivity of a person to being a social being and what happens around him is parallel to the need to obtain information. Therefore, individuals in today’s circumstances obtain information, which is one of the sources of information, from the traditional media as well as from the electronic media.In this study, individuals living in the Northern Cyprus have studied the habits of reading news in Internet-based areas, both in terms of reading and creating news. Human being is a social entity and sensitivity on what is going around is parallel to the need to obtain information. Therefore, individuals acquire news, which is one of the information sources in today's conditions, in electronic media as well as traditional media. In this study, the habits of reading news of the individuals living in Northern Cyprus in the internet-based areas were examined both in terms of the readership and the news writers. The relationship between news reading and reliability to news in internet-based areas were analyzed conducted in Northern Cyprus. In order to reach the aim of this study a field research of face-to face interview has been carried out with hundred and six social media users from five different generations; and interview has been carried out with news editor of Kıbrıs Newspaper; which has the highest circulation in Northern Cyprus and executive editor of the innovative new media portal Gazedda Kıbrıs. As a result of these researches, although there is a wide range of news reading practices in internet-based areas, two main reasons for the insecurity of individuals about the news published on the internet have been emerged. First, the distrust of the reader due to the prevalence of unconfirmed news on the Internet and the second is the lack of self-reliance of the reader due to superficial reading performances on the news, this originates from missed knowledge about news.
