Abstract:

The aim of this study is to point out the fact that conditions of street children are aggravated, dangerous and open to abuse, and to confirm the young’s’ approaches and susceptibilities towards those children despite all of these conditions. For young people who are often in contact with street children in their daily lives and who establish positive and negative communication with them, it is seen fit to confirm their levels of susceptibility along with their point of views towards those children. At the same time, in order to enhance the policies towards developing and recovering social and economical conditions of street children, a series of suggestions are developed. It is necessarily important to identify children’s current states and their expectations and to specify the fact that which structure originates those problems. Our study is procured with a questionnaire application and its basic segregation is grounded over gender. Attendants of the questionnaire are chosen randomly among our sample Istanbul University Literature Faculty students, 64 of which are female and 67 of which are male. Thus, 131 people are reached in total. Questions of the survey include open-ended questions in order not to limit students’ ideas and suggestions about street children. Moreover, in order to provide trustworthiness, check questions are also included.  In this study, in order to reduce or complete the number of children working in the streets the most.
