Yiğit Okur (1934-2016), who announced his name with his works published in the Turkish novel after 1990, took his place in the literary field as a writer who was able to work with subtle lines in his previous accumulated novels. In addition to the novel that the author wrote with the classical fiction understanding, there are also novels he wrote using modernist techniques. One of the points that attracts attention in his novels with different techniques is that he gives too much place to autobiographical elements. This narrative style is often seen by the writer’s childhood years and the people who leave traces in every phase of his life in the fictional sense re-created or assisted by others. Autobiographical reality is not only the person's staff, but also one of the important movements in the creation of time, space, various situations or events in their novels. The autobiographical memory trips, which Yiğit Okur used especially intensely in his first novel, which can be easily seen in his subsequent novels, are not only in touch with the writer's life, but also with the events that have left traces in the political and social life of the recent period of Turkey. In the author’s nine novels, the reality of personal and social history and the fictional reality often come inside. In particular, it can be said that the socio-political problems between the 1940s and the 1960s and the writer's testimonies triggered fictional creation. In all the novels, especially the Democratic Party period, the issue of Cyprus, the tensions between Greece and Turkey and the influences of communism in Turkey are translated into the inner reality. In this article we will try to identify autobiographical elements that have an important impact on the formation of the novel world of Yiğit Okur.
