National holidays are one of the important symbols of social unity and cohesion. On 23 April 1921, TBMM adopted a decision to recognize the day of 23 April as the first holiday of the new Turkish state. The first time the day begins to be commemorated with children, the National Day of the Himaye-i Etfal Community was known by the opportunity to gather assistance activities. Before the year 1927, April 23; "Children's Day", "Children's Day" was mentioned in terms such as "Children's Day", but the first comprehensive Children's Day celebrations began on April 23, 1927. The celebrations developed in parallel with the desire to educate the children out of the Republic. The Democratic Party was established after the Second World War with the efforts of democratization of Turkey and the transition to the multi-party political life. This political movement, which has not been seen until that day in the single party Turkey, resulted in the DP's acquisition of power in 1950. During the ten-year period of power, political and social tensions within the country and events that occur in foreign policy shaped the DP administration, these developments also reflected in the national holiday celebrations that took place in the DP period, the aim of this study is to deal with the celebrations of the 23 April National Government and Children's Day, compared to the previous ceremonies, in the example of Istanbul-Ankara and with the developing events of the period.
