Özet:

In this study we aimed to evaluate our clinical results of primary and secondary implantation of flexible open loop AC IOL after complicated cataract surgery. We examined 33 patients who had cataract surgery and AC IOL implantation between the dates April 2000-Mart 2003 in Göztepe SSK Educational hospital. Visual acuity,‹ntraocular pressure, refraction were evaluated and biomicroscopic examination was performed. The corneal thicness of both eyes of each patient were measured and compared. There was an increase of the visual acuity of 21 patients (63.6 %), decrease in 1 patient (3.03 %), it remained the same in 11 patients (33.3 %). There wasn’t a statistically significant difference in the preoperative and postoperative IOP measurings. The pachimetric measurements of the operated eye were significantly higher than the other eye. Astigmatism, irregularities of the pupil, anterior sinechy on the wound side, sectorial atrophy of the iris were the most common complications. AC IOL implantation is a method used in the complicated cases with lack of posterior capsular support. That’s why we have a higher rate of complications compared to cataract surgery which ends with in the bag IOL implantation. But according to our results there was an increase in the visual acuity in significant number of the cases,so we think that AC IOL implantatiom is a method which can be performed in complicated cases with absence of posterior capsule.
