To get away from the stress of social life and to protect personal and social health, sports has an important place in people's lives. People want to add meaning to their social lives by watching sports and sports activities. Individuals participate in these activities and offer economic benefits to destinations. With the expansion of economic globalization practices into almost all markets related to the sports economy, especially large-scale sports organizations have gained a global identity. When the tourism data of the countries in which the World Cup was made are analyzed, it can be said that the number of tourists increased in this period and thus the tourism revenues increased. In this context, FIFA World Cup events, which is one of the biggest sports organizations of the world, provide profit in terms of tourism and economy. However, the continuation of promotion and marketing activities in order to ensure the sustainability of this gain will ensure that the investments made by international and national organizations are not wasted. In this context, the effects of the FIFA World Cup on the economically affected countries and then their effects on tourism were examined. In the study, over 1.5 million foreign tourists visited Russia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Considering the matches made in 12 stadiums in 11 cities between 14 June and 15 July, it is seen that it provides mobility within the country. These results indicate that while the number of people coming from abroad increased in the period when a large sport organization was held in a country or city, it can be said that citizens within the country have reduced or delayed their travel abroad. Thus, it will increase both domestic and foreign tourism movements; will be able to provide foreign exchange inflow and will take the effect of eliminating interregional imbalance.
