The piracy at sea has always been detrimental to sea trade and transportation. Even today, the piracy is still alive in the modern world. Attacks against ships off the coast of Somalia currently occur which have brought piracy to the forefront of international attention. The UN Security Council has adopted some resolutions calling for the international community to wage a war against marauding piracy. Multinational NATO and EU naval forces have begun to deploy military assets to the region to combat piracy. Turkey is also actively participating in these operations. The aim of this paper is first to examine and question the adequacy of the provisions of international law relating to the piracy and then legal basis of struggling the piracy of the international community and Turkey’s contribution to this struggle. This paper will also put forward specific recommendations as to how to remedy them
